CANTON — A Mabank man has been charged with murder in connection with the disappearing of a Van Zandt County woman, said information from the sheriff’s office.

Johnson W. Burris was arrested on Thursday night on a warrant obtained by deputies. He is being held in Van Zandt County jail on a $1 million bond set today by Justice of the Peace Ronnie Daniell.

He is a suspect in the disappearance of Diane Hopson who has been missing since Nov. 18, said a news release from Sheriff Pat Burnett.

Burris was questioned and a search of his vehicle produced evidence, the information said.

Ms. Hopson remains missing. sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers are searching for her body.
