Grace

Registration will take place Wednesday through Dec. 7 for an ACT prep workshop that Grace Community School is hosting from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 10. It features Chad Cargill of Cargill Consulting Inc.

The workshop will cover general ideas about the ACT as a whole as well as the individual sections of English, math, reading and science.

Cargill will expose students to strategies to help increase their scores, according to information from Grace Community.

Cargill has published "Cargill Consulting's ACT Prep," which is a 540-page book students can purchase at the workshop.

The workshop costs $30 per student.

Students need to register with Grace Community High School at 903-566-5661. Seating is limited.

The workshop is open to all students, not just those who attend Grace Community School.


John Tyler

A representative from Baylor University will discuss admissions requirements and scholarship information from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the John Tyler High School College and Career Center.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, the John Tyler High School Choir will perform at the East Texas Medical Center tree-lighting ceremony.

A representative from Texas Southern University will discuss admissions requirements and scholarship information from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the John Tyler College and Career Center.


Robert E. Lee

Robert E. Lee High School will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newly renovated library at 9 a.m. Monday in the library.

An open house will continue through the day so visitors may tour the facilities. Students will demonstrate the electronic library catalog and research system, the use of e-books and electronic reference resources. They will also share information about the newly added leisure reading areas and computer research areas.


Dogan

Dogan Middle School cheer-leaders and dancers will perform at the Tyler Jaycees Christmas Parade/Tree Lighting Ceremony Thursday night.


Owens

Owens Elementary School Singing Eagles Honor Choir will perform at the Tyler Jaycees Parade/Tree Lighting Ceremony Thursday night.


Head Start

A Head Start Policy Council meeting will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Head Start Office, 2850 W. Shaw St. in Tyler.


Gorman

The Bishop T.K. Gorman junior class retreat is Monday. The junior class community service is Tuesday.

The Tyler Catholic School Council Meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathe-dral Office.

The Gorman Crusader Band will perform in the Tyler Christ-mas Parade Thursday night. Band members should report to the Gorman Band Hall by 4:30 p.m.

The Gorman Middle School Honors Convocation will take place at 8:15 a.m. Friday.


Grace

Grace Community School seventh graders will visit two pre-schools and Whitehouse Independent School District special education/Head Start to read to children on Wednesday.

On Friday, fifth graders at Grace Community will visit the East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore.
