Robbery Suspect In Custody
By CINDY MALLETTE
Staff Writer
Tyler Police believe they’ve captured a major suspect in connection with a string of recent armed robberies.
At 4:30 p.m. Friday, police investigators arrested Kristian Cabrera at his apartment in the 6000 block of Old Bullard Road. Officer Donald Martin, public information officer, said the arrest was based on evidence investigators found at the scene of a recent robbery that linked Cabrera to the crime.
On Tuesday, around 6:30 p.m., police believe Cabrera held up a woman at gunpoint at the Boren Scott Title Company, 6001 S. Broadway. Martin said the man was probably involved with several other robberies, including one that happened in March at the Shogun restaurant, and another that happened in July at a Bank of America location on S. Broadway Ave. Cabrera lives within close proximity to all of the locations, and Martin said that fact played a role in their investigation.
“We are looking at Mr. Cabrera being involved in those incidences, as well as other suspects,” Martin said.
He added that Cabrera was co-operating with police questioning on Friday.
Cabrera was wanted on another warrant for misdemeanor assault for an incident that happened in September. Martin said police believe Cabrera assaulted two men at a Food Fast on the Corner of Old Bullard Road and Rieck Road.
Cabrera remains in the Smith County jail on bonds totaling $750,000.
