Authorities Looking For Hit and Run Driver
WILLS POINT - Law enforcement officers are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a man changing a tire early Sunday morning.

According to information from Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Jean Dark, at around 2:45 a.m., Robert Lee Dixon was stopped along Farm-to-Market Road 2965 nearly two miles south of Wills Point changing a tire on his 1999 green Ford Explorer two-door SUV when a white Chevrolet pickup truck traveling northbound on FM 2965 struck him.

Dixon was dragged for several yards and suffered a broken leg, lacerations, abrasions and bruises.

"He received severe injuries," Dark said.

The white Chevrolet pickup fled the scene, and law enforcement is hoping someone who saw the crash or knows the identity of the white pickup's driver will call police.

Dark said anyone with information on the hit-and-run accident is asked to contact the Van Zandt County Crime Stoppers at 903-567-7867 or the Texas Department of Public Safety Communications in Tyler at 903-939-6001.
