Of all the location options for a jail that have been discussed the past several years, I think the one we are being asked to vote for in Nov. 6 is the most insane.

Building a 10-story jail fronting on Broadway and then wasting money trying to dress it up so it doesn't look like a jail is ludicrous. Are we trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear?

Folks, a jail is a jail. Move that thing off Broadway and don't waste our tax dollars trying to make it look like a hotel. And please don't put those historical clocks off the grand old courthouse on something so ignoble as a jail tower - they deserve better.
