Chemical Society Chapter Receives Award
American Chemical Society Student Affiliate Chapter at The University of Texas at Tyler has received a Commendable Award for its activities during the 2006-07 academic year, announced Dr. Don McClaugherty, UT Tyler Department of Chemistry chair.
This is the 10th consecutive year ACS has honored the chapter, which will also be recognized at the ACS national meeting April 6 in New Orleans.
Dr. Tanya Shtoyko and Dr. Jason Smee, UT Tyler assistant professors of chemistry, served as faculty adviser and co-adviser, respectively.
"I give much credit to all students involved. Successful chapters engage in valuable programs that impact members, their chapters, the ACS Student Affiliate Program, the public and the greater chemistry community," said Shtoyko. "This chapter definitely helps our students prepare for their futures."
The chapter is open to undergraduate chemical science majors.
