Rose Festival Gets Under Way Thursday
Tickets Available At Tyler Rose Museum
The 74th Texas Rose Festival gets under way Thursday, and tickets are available to the 2007 events, including the Queen's Coronation, the Rose Show, the Queen's Tea, the Rose Parade, luncheons and more, TRF Executive Director Jennifer Gaston said.

"Since its beginning in 1933, the Texas Rose Festival has represented the spirit that brings Tyler together as a community. The festival offers enchanting ceremonial events - and more - all amidst a backdrop of roses as vibrant and colorful as Tyler itself," she said.

The 2007 theme is "Nature's Majesty." Tickets are available from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Tyler Rose Museum, 420 Rose Park Drive.

CORONATION

  • The matinee performance of the queen's coronation and court presentation is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center, The University of Texas at Tyler, 3900 University Blvd. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. General admission is $20, and tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

  • Queen's Coronation and Court Presentation is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 18, at the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $45 for main floor, rows C-GG, and $30 main floor, rows HH-NN. Tickets will be available at the door.

  • Queen's Coronation and Court Presentation is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $45.00 main floor, rows C-GG; $30 main floor, rows HH-NN; $40, balcony, rows A-D; and $25, balcony, rows E-FF.

    Tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

    LADIES' LUNCHEON: Kathy Peel, who is considered a family manager, will be the featured speaker. Event is set for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Villa di Felicita, 7891 Texas Highway 110 North. Tickets are $35 per person. An advance ticket is required, and tickets will not be available at the door.

    MEN'S LUNCHEON: Mickey Spagnola, columnist-editor and feature writer for DallasCowboys.com, will be the featured speaker. Event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at the Rose Garden Center, 420 Rose Park Drive. Tickets are $35 per person. An advance ticket is required, and tickets will not be available at the door.

    THE ROSE PARADE: Entertainment begins at 9 a.m. in Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium and continues with more than 130 parade entries, including parade floats adorned with thousands of Tyler roses. Parade officially begins at the intersection of South Glenwood and West Front Streets at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. There will be live parade commentary in the stadium.

    Tickets are $10 for reserved seats (west side); $7 for reserved seats (west side); $5 for senior citizens (west side - lower reserved sections); and free general admission on the east side. Tickets will be available for purchase at the gate.
