Staff Writer
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Waco I.S.D. Stadium, Waco
Radio: KTBB 600-AM, Tyler
TV: None
2006 Records: Robert E. Lee 9-3, Waco 13-3
Last Meeting: Robert E. Lee 21, Waco High 9
All-Time Series: Lee leads 5-3
Last Week's Results: Abilene 21, Robert E. Lee 6; Euless Trinity 27, Waco 7
Players To Watch: Robert E. Lee - RB Da Da Brown (5-8, 163, So.), RT Josh Osorio (6-1, 270, Sr.), DT Fred Donnell (6-1, 251, Sr.), CB Na'Kedrick Williams (5-8, 150, Sr.). Waco - FB Bronshae Dugas (5-9, 180 Jr.), TB Toylon Clark (5-10, 185, Jr.), MLB Laderick Williams (6-0, 195, Sr.), DE Josh Hicks (6-1, 240, Sr.).
Red Raiders Offense vs. Lions Defense: Sophomore QB Luke Wagner is 1-1 as a starter after replacing injured Brandon Rogers. He's passed for 171 yards, but thrown two interceptions. REL is expected to open its passing offense a little bit more in his third game while also keeping with its rushing attack of Brown and senior Jamal Mitchell. In last week's loss to Abilene, the duo combined for 189 yards. Waco's defense is outsized by REL, but possesses speed everywhere. REL's offensive line is turning to Osorio to replace injured Kendrick Spencer at tackle. If REL can impose its will up front, Lee will snap a nine-quarter touchdown-less drought.
Red Raiders Defense vs. Lions Offense: The offensive injury woes have now moved to Lee's defense, but REL showed no signs of it last week. Despite missing five starters, including the switch of Ralston Dews from DT to OL, Lee stymied Abilene's offense. All of the same players are big with another game of experience, while also welcoming back Na'Kedrick Williams in the defensive backfield. Waco's offense has even more injury problems than Lee, missing its starting quarterback and first and second-string tailbacks.
Next Games: Robert E. Lee idle; Waco idle.
Directions to Waco I.S.D. Stadium: From Tyler, take Highway 31 West through Corsicana to Bellmead. In Bellmead, 31 will intersect with Highway 84. Stay on 31/84 to Interstate 35 in Waco. Go South on I-35 toward Austin. Take the New Road exit in Waco. Take a right on New Road. The stadium will be on New Road.
