16-YEAR-OLD GIRL DIES IN SUNDAY ACCIDENT
LONGVIEW - A 16-year-old Longview girl died Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 149, just north of Farm-to-Market Road 349 in Gregg County.

According to a Department of Public Safety fatality report, Kalie Danielle Templeton was pronounced dead at the scene by Gregg County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Sam Lawson at 5 p.m. Sunday.

The accident took place at about 4:08 p.m., according to the report. It is unknown if the 16-year-old was wearing her seatbelt.

According to the report, a 2004 Lincoln SUV was traveling north on Texas 149 while the vehicle Miss Templeton was driving, a 1999 Suzuki SUV, was traveling south at an unsafe speed.

The Suzuki SUV lost traction and traveled into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck the Lincoln SUV, according to the report. Miss Templeton was ejected from the vehicle.

The road and weather conditions were wet and raining.

Trooper Jonathan Anderson of the Longview Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
