JEFFERSON MOORE INDICTED ON RETALIATION CHARGED
A Dogwood City preacher and day-care owner, convicted of raping a 6-year-old girl, has been indicted for retaliation for allegedly punching a prosecutor during his trial.

Jefferson Marian Moore Jr., who was sentenced to life in prison July 14 for aggravated sexual assault of a child, allegedly assaulted Assistant Smith County District Attorney Jason Parrish moments after the jury had left the 7th District Courtroom to deliberate Moore's punishment.

Moore, 58, Flint, also allegedly fought with bailiffs trying to contain him and had to be shackled.

Parrish said he was collecting his things to walk out of the courtroom when Moore ran at him and attacked him. Parrish said there were several witnesses to the assault and he did not provoke the attack, as Moore's son claimed.

If convicted of third-degree felony retaliation, Moore faces two to 10 years in prison.

Moore also faces two additional first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault of a child charges for allegedly raping or molesting two other young girls during naptime at his Dogwood City Preschool and Daycare.
