LONGVIEW WOMAN DIES IN ONE-CAR ACCIDENT THURSDAY
LONGVIEW - An 18-year-old Longview woman died after an apparent one-vehicle accident at the intersection of West Hawkins Parkway and Sandy Creek Drive in Longview.

It is the ninth traffic fatality in Longview this year.

A passerby reported to police that a vehicle drove through a fence and came to rest among the trees. It looked as if it had been there for a while. When police arrived shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, they found the body of Kristen Brooks inside a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, according to police.

A preliminary investigation showed Ms. Brooks was driving west on Hawkins Parkway when her vehicle struck a curb and she lost control of her vehicle, according to police. She continued west before leaving the road and striking a wrought iron fence and coming to rest in the trees.

She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Ms. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was sent to Tyler for an autopsy.
