17-YEAR-OLD HURT IN ACCIDENT
A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized with major injuries Sunday after a car accident left him pinned inside his pickup.

Jacob Garvin, of Coleman, was driving northbound on Texas Highway 110 just before midnight Saturday when he crossed into the southbound lanes, Tyler Police Sgt. Tom Deal said.

Garvin's 1983 Ford F100 pickup did not have its lights on and collided head-on with a GMC tow truck, according to the accident report.

The trucks collided between Loop 323 and Shiloh Road near the 4400 block of Highway 110, Deal said.

The Jaws of Life were used to remove Garvin from the truck. He was transported to East Texas Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition Sunday.

The driver of the tow truck received minor injures and was released at the scene of the accident, Deal said.

The accident is still under investigation by Tyler police.
