LSU's Black To Visit Tyler's Youth Today
Tylerite Ciron Black, a member of the LSU national championship football team, will visit members of the Boys & Girls clubs of East Texas Thursday.

The former Robert E. Lee High School star will visit members at Rice Elementary, 409 Carriage Dr., at 3:15 p.m.; Bell Elementary, 1409 Hankerson Street, at 3:45 p.m.; and the Boys & Girls Club, 504 W. 32nd Street, at 4:30 p.m.

Black started at left offensive tackle for the Tigers and blocked for former high school teammate, Matt Flynn, who played quarterback.

He helped the Red Raiders win the 2004 Class 5A Division I state football championship and at LSU was named to the 2006 Freshman Academic Honor Roll.

Black will be speaking to the members about how his hard work in school and sports led him to achieving his dreams, Ron Vickery, Chief Professional Officer of the Boys & Girls clubs of East Texas, said in a news release.

"We are honored to have a local athlete like Ciron Black come speak to our members," Vickery said. "Ciron is a local sports hero who can inspire and motivate young people to work hard, have high integrity, and reach their academic and athletic goals."

The mission of the Boys & Girls clubs of East Texas is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens, Vickery said.
