Record high temperatures were reached on Friday in Tyler, Longview and Lufkin. But, these records were for the coolest high for the date, which is a number that doesn’t get the kind of fanfare you see during periods of extreme heat and or cold. Regardless, the cool weather will gradually lose out in the fight with the August sunshine. Clouds early in the day on Saturday will scatter out as the afternoon wears-on, and this will help in that recovery process.
That being said, the combination of a Northerly wind component and a very moist ground will help to slow the warming. Rainfall prospects over the next seven days are not looking too promising. Look for temps to make a run back to near normal during the upcoming week.
