East Texans can expect night of rain and a cold Monday as a weak thunderstorm line moves across the area.

KYTX CBS 19 Chief Meteorologist John Adams said East Texas received some light showers this afternoon and more are on the way as a line of thunderstorms moves east through the area.

As of 3:15 p.m., the storm was in the Mount Pleasant are, moving eastward at between 25 and 30 mph. He expects the weather system to hit Tyler in about an hour. There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms, Adams said.

The front is caused by an upper air disturbance moving east along the southern plains, followed by a cold front, Adams said.

The cold front will produce unseasonable cold weather on Monday, but temperatures will warm back up on Tuesday.

Monday will have an estimated high of 57 with a low of 35. Tuesday morning is expected to be a near-record low of 30 degrees and warm up to 62 by Tuesday afternoon.
