There is a slight risk of severe storms in East Texas this afternoon and evening. A strong upper air low pressure system will trigger thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes and heavy rain from North and East Texas across the Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley. There is a moderate risk of severe storms across Arkansas, southeast Missouri, and small parts of Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.
High temperatures in East Texas will be near 80 degrees this afternoon with south winds 15 to 20 gusting to 30 mph. A cold front tonight will drop temperatures 10 to 15 degrees through the weekend. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday night through early Tuesday.
