The warm start today will make 70-plus degree temperatures achievable across the area. In addition to the warmth, scattered pockets of light rain and a few showers will be seen across East Texas. Rainfall totals will be minimal, though. Then, by Saturday, showers and some hefty thunderstorms will become likely. Look for widespread 1 ½- to 2-inch rainfall totals through Saturday night. Severe weather will also be a potential player, with strong straight-line winds being the main concern. However, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out within the strongest storms. Temperatures will cool significantly by Sunday, and continue into Christmas week.
