Rainfall chances will return to the forecast area by this afternoon, and especially tonight into Sunday. As a cold front approaches the area on Saturday evening, showers and thunderstorms should increase in coverage. This front is expected to stall across the area, and help to focus additional rainfall on Sunday. Totals will run in the 1 1/4 to 2 inch range. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few stronger storms cannot be ruled out, especially Saturday afternoon. Due to last week's heavy rainfall, the soil has now been conditioned to a point where more general run-off will occur in Heavy Downpours. This should allow for better collection in area creeks, streams and lakes, which failed to capitalize last week - due to the drought-strickened ground's ability to absorb so much moisture last Friday.
