A heat advisory will be in effect through 8 p.m. today. The heat index, a measure of how hot it feels considering temperature and humidity, will be between 105 and 108 degrees during the afternoon, with overnight low temperatures not expected to fall much below 80 degrees. This first week of August looks hot and dry with high temperatures in the high 90s through the middle of next week. Winds will be south to southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Isolated pop-up showers are about all we can expect to see in the rain department.
