(MCT) -- The East Texas Pump Jacks have signed two players from Panola College as it prepares for its season in Kilgore’s Driller Park.
Marshall Kasowski, a starting pitcher, and Robbie Petty, a reliever, have agreed to play for the Texas Collegiate League franchise.
Kilgore native Matthew Dickey, a Stephen F. State Austin University sophomore who broke the TCL's single-season record for stolen bases last year (40), has agreed to return. Dickey was co-TCL Freshman of the Year in 2013. He was also an all-TCL outfielder.
Kasowski is the ace of the Panola College pitching staff, according topumpjacksbaseball.com. Petty is the leading reliever. Kasowski this season has a 4-2 record and 0.97 ERA, in 46 1/3 innings. The native of Conroe notched 53 strikeouts and allowed 28 hits. He leads the team in those categories, and leads the Region XIV Conference in strikeouts. He has a big frame; he's listed at 6- foot-3 and 220 pounds.
Petty has a 3.97 ERA and a 1-2 record in 11 appearances. In 22 2/3 innings, the former Wylie standout has given up 18 hits and nine walks, and has 11 strikeouts.
The Pump Jacks open the season May 29 in Dallas against the Texas Marshals. The team’s home opener at Driller is June 3 against the Woodlands Strykers.
