The Green Bay Packers made it official today at around the noon hour: Injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play against the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday's game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Good news or bad news, Cowboys fans? We ask because Rodgers' replacement is none other than former Robert E. Lee High School and Texas state high school champion team quarterback Matt Flynn.
You have to think this is going to be a super-big day for Flynn in more ways than one. For one, he's going to start a game in Arlington, where family and friends from the Tyler area can all come and watch. Plus, it's a huge game for Green Bay, which trails NFC Central co-leaders Detroit and Chicago by one-half game.
If you watched Monday night football, you know that facing backup quarterbacks is not necessarily a formula for success for Dallas. Jacksonville native Josh McCown carved up the Cowboys, leading his Bears to a 45-28 win that wasn't as close as that final score indicates.
So, if you're a Cowboys fan who lives in Tyler, and who knows the Flynn family, and who maybe attended Robert E. Lee, who are you rooting for this Sunday? The Cowboys or Matt Flynn? Let us know in the comments below. We want to know where your loyalties lie this weekend!
