The Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) on the Tyler Junior College campus will rededicate their facility to honor a former director, Bob Mayfield.
“We want to honor him,” said current director Mark Jones. “And from a ministry standpoint we’re trying to be poised for the changes.”
The event will be held at 2 p.m. April 26 at the BSM at 1333 S. Baxter. The renovation include a new roof, new carpet, kitchen renovation, new furniture, updated lighting, bathroom renovation and audio/visual update.
TJC is growing; Jones said that 1,400 are expected to live on campus in the near future.
“For a junior college, that’s staggering,” he said.
Mayfield was director of the BSM for 13 years, and also served as pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Tyler.
