Around East Texas: Luter to visit Chandler for pair of events

The Rev. Fred Luter, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will be coming to Chandler on Thursday to make two presentations. A luncheon with Luter will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church at 628 S. Broad St. Tickets are $10. The 4th annual Quiltathon at Our Saviours Lutheran Church will be held at 10 a.m. on Feb. 8 at 4900 Kinsey Dr. in Tyler

The quilts will be donated to the Tyler Fire Department, Shriners International, the Children Advocacy Center and The Salvation Army in Tyler. Anyone who is interested in quilting is invited. Soup and sandwiches will be served.



The Greater St. Mary Baptist Church Youth/Inspirational Choir will hold a fish fry fundraiser on Feb. 8. The fish fry will be 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1615 Texas College Road in Tyler. Fish dinners may be purchased for $10 each, and orders of five dinners or more will be delivered free.

The dinners will contain catfish fillets, coleslaw, fries, beans, bread and dessert. Fish dinners may be purchased in advance; please see any choir member or sponsor.
