Around East Texas: Breckenridge Village to hold Christmas shopping event

Breckenridge Village’s “Christmas in the Village” shopping and entertainment event will be held from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the campus, 15062 CR 1145 in Tyler. For more information, call 903-596-8100.


Edom United Methodist Church is hosting the annual Thanksgiving Community Worship service at 6 p.m. on Nov. 24 at 8430 Highway 279. The event includes music from Flatwood Assembly of God, First Baptist Church of Edom, New Beginnings Baptist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Ben Wheeler and Brownsboro. The public is invited.


University Christian Church will host a lecture by D. Newell Williams, president and professor at Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

Williams will give a presentation on the church of the future. His presentation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. He will also be the guest speaker at the morning service at 10:45.


College Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Tyler is celebrating its 82nd church anniversary and note-burning celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday.

“College Hill has a rich history in the community and we just want the city of Tyler to know what great things the Lord is doing in the life of our church family,” reads the written release.


People’s Missionary Baptist Church’s Pastor and Wife Appreciation Services will be at 3 p.m. Nov. 17. The guest speaker will be Rev. Ernest Browning and Mt. Providence Baptist Church of Athens. The Rev. Marcus Jackson is host pastor of People’s Baptist Church.
