Veteran thankful for Heroes’ Flight honor
ROSES: I would like to thank Brookshire’s Grocery Co. for the great trip they gave to us World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. It was wonderful to see the memorials, museums, the White House and Capitol. They really took great care of us and treated us royally. This was a memorable trip for all of us.
ROSES: To the staff and all the volunteers at the Watkins-Logan Texas State Veteran’s Home next door to the UT Health Center up on State Highway 155, for treating the residents and their families to a First Day of Summer Block Party on June 21. The Marines grilled up some tasty burgers and hot dogs while the staff prepared plates for the residents of each cottage to enjoy. There was a water slide and bounce house for grandkids, watermelon slices, snow-cones, cotton candy and a cake walk with entertainment by a very talented country music band.
This is just one example of the fun things that Watkins-Logan is always organizing for our vets and their families. This facility is really a “rose” here in the Rose City that more folks should know about. We’re lucky to have it here.
