The East Texas Human Needs Network will have its annual “One Night Without a Home” event on Friday.

The event is part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. Participant registration is required and can be completed online at www.ethnn.org . More than 150 people are expected to participate.

This free event will begin at 4 p.m. at The Salvation Army of Tyler where attendees will check in and have dinner, according to a news release about it.

After dinner participants will walk to Fun Forest Park where a program, “The Face of Hunger and Homelessness,” will take place.

Speakers will share their stories about current homelessness or about a time when they experienced homelessness, the news release reads.

After the program there will be a candlelight vigil in memory of people who died while being homeless. Lights out will be at 10:30 p.m. at the park.

At 5 a.m. Nov. 18 the participants will wake up for a quick breakfast and discuss the lessons learned through the event. At 6:30 a.m. participants will walk back to The Salvation Army.
