Kim Campbell, wife of the late country music star Glen Campbell, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the sixth annual Butterfly Hope Luncheon-Butterflies, Rhinestones and Cowboys on Wednesday.
The luncheon, put on by the Alzheimer's Alliance of Smith County, is the nonprofit’s largest fundraising event. It is sold out.
"Glen Campbell was very public about his Alzheimer's diagnosis," Stephanie Taylor, executive director of The Alzheimer's Alliance, said. "I heard Kim speak at a conference and that put the wheels in motion to get her to speak at our event."
Taylor said she thinks people will relate to Ms. Campbell's experience.
"We're thrilled to have Ms. Campbell coming here," Taylor said. "She is candid about his life, her role as a caregiver and on moving him to memory care."
