For the first time in seven years, Robert E. Lee is back on top in the Pantry Raid.

The Red Raiders snapped John Tyler’s six-game winning streak when Lee was announced as the winner of the 26th annual event during halftime of Friday’s REL at JT football game at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

It was the first time Lee had won since 2011. Overall, JT leads the series 13-12-2, just as tight as the gridiron series.

Rosemary McClain, the East Texas Food Bank’s Food Sourcing Director, was on hand to present the trophy to the REL students at halftime on Earl Campbell Field.

The two schools combined to raise 30,842 which equals 25,702 meals, ET Food Bank officials said.

Since 1991 Tyler ISD students have worked together to collect more than 1.2 pounds of food for the East Texas Food Bank.
