Longview ISD could drop from 6A to 5A

While Longview ISD reported a slight enrollment decline that could bump the district down to 5A, student numbers at most Longview-area school districts increased compared with 2016-17.

Enrollment at public school districts is based on Snapshot Day, which is the last Friday in October.

Districts are required to report their Snapshot Day numbers to the Texas Education Agency in December and submit any corrections to those numbers in January.

Snapshot Day numbers for high schools are used every two years to determine University Interscholastic League division classifications - for example, whether a district is 6A or 5A.
