The Cotton Bowl Foundation announced that all funds raised Thursday on North Texas Giving Day will go to support the Kilgore College Rangerettes, a world-famous precision dance team.
The unique and special partnership between the Rangerettes and the Cotton Bowl dates back to New Year’s Day 1949 and continues today, according to a news release from the Cotton Bowl. Christened “The Sweethearts of the Gridiron,” the Rangerettes will make their 68th consecutive performance at the 82nd Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Dec. 29.
“Our goal is to raise $50,000 tomorrow to support the Rangerettes,” Cotton Bowl Foundation President Rick Baker said. “We invite everyone to learn more about this incredible organization that has touched the lives of thousands of young women since Gussie Nell Davis founded the Rangerettes in 1939. They are a Texas treasure, and we hope everyone will support this worthwhile endeavor.”
Donors are encouraged to visit the Cotton Bowl Foundation’s new website on North Texas Giving Day - www.cottonbowlfoundation.org . The first $25,000 raised for the Rangerettes will be matched by an anonymous donor.
North Texas Giving Day is run by the Communities Foundation of Texas and is an 18-hour online giving day for nonprofits. Last year, the event raised over $37 million for 2,500-plus nonprofits. North Texas Giving Day is the largest community-wide giving event in the country.
