A woman is dead after a truck crashed into a stopped train Saturday in Longview.

According to a Facebook post by Longview police, Nelda Holland Cooper, 77, of Troup, was identified as the deceased just after 9 a.m. Sunday.

The pickup was traveling west on Interstate 20 at 11:43 p.m. Saturday when it left the roadway just east of mile marker 595.

The black Chevrolet Silverado caught fire and police describe the pickup as severely damaged.

Emergency crews shut down that area of the interstate while they responded to the incident and worked to contain the fire.

Investigators identified a partial VIN number, which helped in the identification of both the vehicle and the woman.

All lanes of traffic opened back up after 9 a.m. Sunday, according to tweets from Longview police. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
