A 26-year-old Flint man is in the Smith County Jail after law enforcement officials said he used Pinterest to promote and share child pornography.
Jonathan Adair turned himself in to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday on a charge of promotion or possession of child pornography. He remained in jail Monday on a $100,000 bond.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, a detective with the sheriff’s office received a tip from the Dallas Internet Crimes Task Force on Jan. 25 in reference to nine images they received from Pinterest. Each image had a corresponding report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children providing details related to the image. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received the images and related information in mid-December, according to the affidavit. The center's report indicated the name on the Pinterest account used to promote these images was “Bob Smith,” according to the affidavit.
The court document states that officials determined Adair was the account holder for the IP address - a numeric address given to a computer connected to the Internet.
