Political Happenings: Cherokee County Republicans meet Tuesday

The topic of the next Cherokee County Texas Republican Club meeting is “Self-Government is Not a Spectator Sport: Understanding and Applying America’s Founding Principles.”

The guest speaker is James Wright, a resident of Cherokee County with deep roots in East Texas whose family has been here since the 1850s. He has a passion for Texas history, Texas music and Western music. The meeting is being held at Hong Kong Super Buffet, 1644 S. Jackson at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Smith County GOP

The Smith County Republican Club’s monthly meeting will be Thursday at Traditions Restaurant. Meet, greet and dinner will be at 6 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Guest speaker for the evening will be Triston Ferguson, an award-winning speaker, constitutional conservative and senior at John Tyler High School.
