East Texas Refrigeration is teaming up with The Salvation Army for the annual Gift of Warmth project through Jan. 27.

The goal is to collect at least 500 blankets for people in need in Smith County.

The Salvation Army already has given away more than 100 blankets this season alone.

Blankets are distributed year-round through the nonprofit organization’s Social Services office and also are used in the Center of Hope shelter as needed, according to a news release.

New blankets may be dropped off at the following locations:

• 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, East Texas Refrigeration, 4700 Old Troup Highway, Tyler

• 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, The Salvation Army, 633 N. Broadway Ave., Building Three; or after hours and weekends at Building Two (Lodge Entrance)

Blankets also may be given to any East Texas Refrigeration technician around town.
