JACKSONVILLE (KYTX) - Authorities say they are treating the death of a Jacksonville woman whose remains were found earlier this year as a murder investigation.

And they say they aren't ruling out a former police officer as a suspect.

The skeletal remains of 26-year-old Shunte Coleman were found in a wooded area of San Augustine County back in March, nearly eight years after her disappearance.

The body of Terri Reyes was found in that same area in 2007, one month after her own disappearance.

Both women were supposed to testify against former Jacksonville police officer Larry Pugh who was being investigated on sexual assault charges.
