LONGVIEW (KYTX) - According to the Coast Guard, the search continues for a Longview chiropractor who disappeared Sunday night during a commercial shark dive.

A mask and photography equipment have been found, but authorities are not saying if it's related.

The search for Dr. John E. Petty resumed this morning near West End, Bahamas, where Petty disappeared.

Meanwhile, a receptionist at Petty's medical office in Longview says Gladewater chiropractor Dr. Cody Hopson has agreed to step in and see Petty's patients starting this afternoon while the search continues.

"I would love for East Texas to pray for Dr. Petty and his family," receptionist Judy Luttrell said. "Please pray." Those with the U.S. Coast Guard District 7 Command Center in Miami tell CBS19, Dr. John Petty went missing on a dive about 20 nautical miles away from the town of West End in the Bahamas. They say he was diving with 8 other people and they surfaced but he did not.

A Coast Guard ship was scheduled to remain in the search area Monday night. A helicopter and plane which were helping in the search since Sunday stopped for the night. They were set to resume Tuesday morning.

According to the website for Petty's chiropractic office, Dr. Petty enjoys underwater nature photography while scuba diving. Petty is a Gilmer native.
