Lawyer’s to advise vets today

The Smith County Bar Association in cooperation with Texas Lawyers for Texas Vets will hold a free legal clinic for Smith County area military veterans from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Smith County R. B. Hubbard Center, 304 East Ferguson St. in Tyler. Volunteer attorneys will provide brief legal consultations (10 to 15 minutes) to qualifying U.S. Veterans and their spouses on a first come, first serve basis.

Areas of consultation may include civil legal areas such as family law, including divorce, custody, and child support cases; bankruptcy, consumer, landlord/tenant disagreements, wills and probate, IRS controversies and other limited legal issues. Current Lone Star Legal Aid financial guidelines will apply for free legal representation. Veterans and their spouses must reside in Smith County or have legal issues in Smith County to participate.

Veterans are encouraged to legal documents regarding the legal matter. Veterans must bring photo identification.
