Vista College in Longview will have an open house this week to share information about a new health care program.
The school is starting a Patient Care Technician program June 30, according to a college news release.
The program provides students with hands-on training in basic care and living activities and prepares them for careers in nursing and residential care facilities, hospitals or home health agencies, according to the news release.
Covered topics include medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, emergency care and nutrition.
Specific skills taught include blood specimen collection procedures, rhythm strip documentation and how to perform electrocardiograms.
“We’re excited to bring the PCT diploma program to Longview and the surrounding communities,” Vista College Campus Director Torris Ferguson said, according to the news release. “It means that anyone with a passion for health care, a commitment to helping provide a better quality of life for others, and the desire to take their career to the next level can receive the training they need to face the workforce with confidence.”
The open house is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 1905 W. Loop 281 in Longview. Call 903-704-0544 for more information.
