A 19-year-old Mineola man died in a shooting stemming from an argument at a local convenience store.
The incident happened Sunday at the EZ Mart, 115 N. Pacific St., according to a Mineola police report.
Jason Russell Walters, 41, got into an argument inside the store and went outside to resolve the problem. Christopher James Griffin was shot in the altercation outside, but Mineola police say he was not involved in the argument inside the store.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a black male lying in the alley with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the neck. A white male was also observed on the scene holding a handgun,” according to a news release.
Griffin was taken via helicopter but succumbed to his injuries before arriving at a hospital.
Walters was charged in the shooting and was behind bars in the Wood County Jail on a $100,000 bond as of late Monday.
