One man is dead and another in the hospital following a high-speed chase and wreck Saturday evening.
Around 7:30 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to pull over a Chrysler for a routine traffic stop on Farm-to-Market Road 346 South, near Bullard, said DPS Spokeswoman Jean Dark.
The car, with two men inside, did not pull over and a chase began. Police set up spikes to stop the car, but it continued on.
“It successfully deflated three tires, and normally people stop or they slow down because their vehicle is disabled, but this (vehicle) kept on,” Trooper Dark said.
The vehicle crashed after failing to navigate a curb and rolled several times.
Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Gary Alfred pronounced the driver dead at the scene, and his passenger was taken to a local hospital, Trooper Dark said. His condition was not known.
After a search of the car, four pounds of hydroponic marijuana was found.
The men's names were not released Sunday, and the incident remains under investigation by DPS.
