Junior League of Tyler gives away $228K

The Junior League of Tyler Inc. recently held its annual contract signing.

The league entered into an agreement with 25 Smith County nonprofit agencies and three in-league programs to be awarded money and volunteers from the Junior League. Those agencies support women, children, families and senior citizens in the Smith County area.

The Junior League of Tyler gave away more than $228,000 and 20,000 volunteer hours for the upcoming 2014-2015 year. The league has given close to $7.5 million to the Smith County community during its 64-year history.

The Junior League of Tyler, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. In our 2013-2014 year, the Junior League of Tyler partnered with 24 community agencies and three League programs: Summer Reading Camp, Girl Power and Kids in the Kitchen, to provide more than $203,000 and 20,000 volunteer service hours in Smith County.
