A registered sex offender wanted by the Whitehouse Police Department turned himself in to Knox County, Mo., law enforcement and is awaiting extradition to Smith County.

Whitehouse Police Chief Craig Shelton said Bruce L. Alderman, 50, was arrested in Missouri on a warrant his office obtained for an active case involving the aggravated assault of a child.

Knox County Sheriff Allen Gudehus said his office took Alderman into custody after he turned himself in following an attempt by the office to locate him, according to a reporter from The Edina Sentinal in Missouri.

Shelton said he did not know the specifics of the case, but did know Smith County was making arrangements for Alderman’s extradition.

The first record of Alderman as a registered sex offender in Smith County is in October 2011.
