BIG SANDY -- A Greenville woman died in an auto-pickup collision during the winter storm Sunday afternoon on U.S. Hwy. 80 in Upshur County near the Wood County line, said Upshur County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace W.V. Ray.

Ray said he pronounced Amanda Tillery, 32, dead at the scene at 5:10 p.m. following the 3:41 p.m. crash a half mile east of the county line.

Ms. Tillery was alone in a small Chevrolet car which the pickup struck on the driver's side, Ray said Tuesday. He said he knew nothing about who was in the truck, nor whether anyone in it was injured.

The crash occurred in the Big Sandy/Hawkins area. Jean Dark, public information officer for the DPS, said Tuesday she had no information whatsoever on the incident, which Ray said DPS Trooper Sandy Mac Taylor investigated.

The Tyler Morning Telegraph repeatedly attempted to reach the Gilmer DPS office for information on the matter Monday and Tuesday, but all calls either were not answered or went straight to voicemail.

Ms. Tillery's body was taken to Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer after its personnel met an ambulance in Big Sandy, said a spokesman for the funeral home. He said Peters Funeral Home of Greenville was coming to pick up the body.
