Roughly 6,000 ONCOR customers are without power Monday morning following Sunday’s storm.
Charles Hill, spokesman for the company, said as many as 13,000 customers were without power at one point. Additional crews are en route from Dallas, but are having trouble getting through.
The Department of Public Safety reports that I-20 in Smith County is very slow.
Tree branches falling onto lines caused most of the damage, Hill said.
It will be at least the end of Monday before all the damage is repaired.
“This is the kind of storm we really dread – ice and freezing rain together,” Hill said.
Those without power are asked to be patient. It is expected to take an extensive amount of time to get everyone’s lights back on due to the road and weather conditions the workers are in.
