Henderson County is projected to be debt free within two years, County Judge Richard Sanders said during the annual state of the county address.
“We have worked very hard to try and keep tax rates low and not raise taxes,” Sanders said. “In 2016, Henderson County will be completely out of debt. We don’t have a whole lot of debt now, just a little over $3 million, but in 2016 we should have that completely paid off. The governments that you hear about across the nation, cities and counties having trouble, I wanted to let you know Henderson County is very strong.”
Sanders said he intends to keep it that way.
“I am very proud to be county judge and it is an honor for me to serve as county judge. It has been a pleasure working with the commissioners, these guys here on stage and other department heads in the county.
“We have a real good group that works hard and tries to do what is best for the county. My goal has always been to do what is best for this county.”
