Whitehouse High School sophomore Julia Gray, the daughter of Linda and Robert Gray, was named to the Texas Music Educator’s Association All-State Women’s Choir.

The choir is scheduled to perform at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Feb. 15 as part of the 2014 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention in San Antonio.

More than 26,000 people will attend the event, according to a Whitehouse High School news release.

This is Julia’s first time to perform as a member of an All-State organization, the highest honor a Texas music student can receive, according to the news release.

High school students selected to perform in the All-State concerts have competed through several levels of auditions starting in fall 2013.

More than 60,000 students statewide start the process, with 1,500 ultimately selected for an All-State ensemble.

Julia sings under the direction of Amy McMichael, who is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, according to the news release.
