Henderson County Tea Party to host forum

ATHENS — The primary elections are around the corner, and the newly formed Henderson County Tea Party will hold a public forum on Friday to give residents a chance to hear from the candidates.

This is scheduled to be one of the biggest forums in Henderson County, with everyone from state representatives to local county races scheduled to attend.

The meet-the-candidates forum will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church. The church is between Chandler and Brownsboro on Texas Highway 31.

Candace Sessums, Henderson County Tea Party Social Media Coordinator, released a list of candidates who have confirmed to the organization that they will attend the forum.

Expected to attend are Lance Gooden — State Representative District 4 and his challenger, Stuart Spitzer.

Scott Williams and Mark W. Hall are running for County Court at Law Judge No. 1, and both have confirmed they will be in attendance to both the Tea Party and the Athens Review.

District Clerk candidates Stacey Norman, Jean Godwin Brittain and Betty Herriage have confirmed they will be in attendance.

County Clerk candidates Leticia Carpenter and Mary Margaret Wright will be in attendance, as will be Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 candidates Randy Daniel and Jerry Horn.

Four are seeking the position of County Commissioner of Precinct 4 and have confirmed attendance. They are Kelly Harris, Ken Gesslin, Gordon Folmar and Larry West.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 candidates James A. “Tony” Duncan and Susan Carver have confirmed attendance.

Edie Walker and Milton K. Adams are running for Justice of Peace Precinct 4 and have confirmed attendance.

Voters can go to one of three early balloting locations, beginning on Feb. 18, and running through Feb. 28. They are the Henderson County Elections Center at 201 E. Larkin St. in Athens, the Chandler Community Center at 811 Texas Highway 31 East, in Chandler and the Seven Points City Hall, 428 Cedar Creek Parkway in Seven Points.

Election Day is scheduled for March 4.
