Gallery Main Street’s first fine art exhibit of the year is scheduled to open this weekend, the City of Tyler announced.
The exhibit, “Light/Dark,” will open Saturday at the gallery, 110 W. Erwin St. A reception will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, according to a news release.
“We encourage the public to come and enjoy some wonderful original art, as well as music and refreshments. It’s free, and everyone is invited,” Beverly Abell, with the City of Tyler’s Main Street Department, said in a news release.
More than 24 art pieces by 14 area artists will be part of the exhibit. Pieces at the exhibit will include acrylic, oil, photography, mixed media and assembly, the news release states.
Gallery Main Street, operated by the City of Tyler Main Street Department in cooperation with the Downtown Tyler Arts Coalition and Heart of Tyler, has a new art exhibit every eight weeks, according to a news release.
“Artwork is selected for exhibit via juried process,” the news release states. “Artists submit digital images of their work for consideration by a jury, which scores each piece based on its own merits of skill in execution and adherence to theme. The top-scoring pieces are accepted for exhibit, and the piece that receives the highest score is named best in show.”
