Tyler’s Historic Brick Street Village has two community events planned for the holidays, their annual Brick Street Stroll Dec. 7 and an Ole Fashioned Christmas in the Village Dec. 14. Both events will be held in the Brick Street areas of College, Phillips, Bois D’ Arc and Rusk streets from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The stroll is more about involving the community with a pet parade to kick it off at 10 a.m. Attendees are invited to bring their pets dressed in holiday attire. Entertainment during the day will be provided by the Robert E. Lee High School Southern Belles, Dogan Middle School Fly Kids, musicians throughout the day and pictures with Santa. Holt House will provide boxed lunches for $8 but must be reserved; call 903-592-5553.
During the Ole Fashioned Christmas in the Village, shop owners will be dressed in period attire and have refreshments in their shops. Attendees can dress in vintage clothing and have a picture made by Suzy Beck Photography. Carriage rides are available for $25 for up to six people.
Shops participating in the holiday events are Brady’s Coffee, Carriage House Gallery, Crafts & Quilting, Etc., Dory’s Gardens, Encore Consignment Furniture & Estate Sales, Holt House, First Presbyterian Church and Miller Homes Group.
In addition to the shops and village decorated for the holidays, shop owners have an 18-by-22-foot mural they have painted that depicts the Brick Street Village shops. Their message Peace on Earth lights up at dusk and is displayed at 303 1/2 W. Phillips.
