The Bullard High School Panther Marching Band received First Division "Superior" ratings from all three judges at the Region 21 University Interscholastic League Marching Contest on Oct. 19.
The judges praised the band’s attention to detail, style and technique, along with its sound and marching skills, according to a band news release.
This was the first of three steps to a UIL Sweepstakes Award. The UIL Sight-reading Contest and UIL Concert Contest will be April 29 to May 1.
The public is invited to hear the award-winning band in concert at 9:45 a.m. Nov. 11 for a Veterans Day program and 7 p.m. Dec. 12 for the annual Christmas Concert.
Both concerts will be in the Bullard High School Audry Owens Auditorium, according to the news release.
Band director is Gary Jordan and assistants are Chelsye Emmons, Gehrig Blankenship and R.J. Morgan.
